Et Fille Wines

Et Fille Wines 2015 Pinot Noir

A father and daughter, hand in hand

It was the year 2000. The powerful and emotional animated short, “Father and Daughter” won an Academy Award. And Jessica Mozeico decided to join her dad, Howard, in the winery to help him make his latest batch of wine.

Three years later, Et Fille (“and daughter”) Wines was born – along with a hand-in-hand logo inspired by the film and crafted by filmmaker Michael Dudok de Wit.

Howard had been a software engineer, making wine as a hobby as far back as 1984. Jessica started her career doing marketing in the biotechnology industry. Both had pursued careers that combined science with creativity – a perfect background for making wine.

For years, father and daughter made wine side by side. They sorted and punched down the grapes together. They tasted every barrel together. They bottled together. It was a partnership that lived up to the name.

When Howard died in a tractor accident in 2017, Jessica was determined to carry on, saying, “it quickly became clear to me that I have the honor, responsibility and privilege of carrying Et Fille forward in exactly the vision that we had together.”

Cellar 503 Tasting Notes

Et Fille Wines, Newberg, Oregon
2015 Pinot Noir

I love Jessica’s tasting notes; she is always so eloquent and creative. Her notes for this 2015 Pinot Noir include this fabulous line: “It has that perfect black pants quality – it can dress up whatever it is paired with and last for years. “

I couldn’t agree more! This is the quintessential Willamette Valley Pinot Noir in one bottle. A blend from multiple vineyards that are all LIVE Certified, this is a perfect blend of art and science and a wonderful representation of the vintage.

Aromas of blackberry and dark cherry with flavors of ripe raspberry and plum. It has that unique Willamette Valley quality of earthiness, rose petals and pencil shavings with a nice thread of minerality throughout.

But Jessica’s best tasting note might just be how she starts her description: “This wine makes me think of Justin Timberlake- it is an attention getting performer with talent, range, and yet is accessible.”
