Pamplin Family Winery 2021 Boisseau Vineyard Chardonnay
Something Blue
So obviously this wine is not going to be blue. We would never do that to you.
Instead we found a wine made by a blue-blooded Willamette Valley Team who not only conquered the Willamette Valley through the wine made at Anne Amie but then decided that they wanted to make world class big reds celebrating Washington fruit.
Pamplin Family Winery showcases a portfolio of wines that are ALL RED except for this one expression of white. This unique single vineyard Chardonnay from the Chehalem Mountains knew it was royalty from the start with it's rich, bold & buttery beauty. Typically exclusive to their wine club and winery visitors, Art was kind enough to share some of these bottles with us. Let us enjoy it and celebrate the extremely collaborative nature of the wine industry not just in Oregon but the whole of the Pacific Northwest.
Cellar 503 Tasting Notes
Pamplin Family Winery, Sherwood, Oregon
2021 Boisseau Vineyard Chardonnay
The vision for this winery is a collaborative effort between Bob Pamplin and his son-in-law Art North, who both share a passion for great wine. A family-owned and operated winery, dedicated to handcrafting superior quality wines through uncompromising attention to detail in the vineyards and winery.
Devoted in their focus to present only the finest wines for you to enjoy with your family and friends. They are, first and foremost, wine enthusiasts. As a result, they approach winemaking from a consumer perspective – handcrafting wines for true wine fans, not from a business-directed approach with specified annual production goals. They strive to provide wines that are profound expressions of the vintage without constraint. Assembling the best for each vintage regardless of vineyard, variety or case quantity goals. The result of applying such high standards is extremely limited production, ultra premium wines.
The 2021 vintage in the Willamette Valley was warm and generous. There wasn’t any rush to pick due to any weather events or the catastrophic smoke that we endured in 2020. We did make it through the heat dome in late June where we saw temperatures reaching 115 degrees for three days. Unlike in Wahington where crop levels were severely impacted by the extreme heat, here in the Willamette Valley it may have helped mitigate any mildew pressure and reduced berry size. The 2021 Chardonnay has an innate fullness and sweetness to the palate curtesy of the warm vintage with the characteristic lemon curd/citrus profile of the Chehalem Mountains AVA.
