Hooray For You Wine Co. 2021 Red Blend
Shoot an arrow and watch it go high
Christopher Sky and Greg Cantu were instant friends. Both came from Colorado, both worked in the restaurant industry, both were self-taught sommeliers and wine geeks. They had each navigated the world of fine dining in Portland for years – Greg at Grüner, Christopher at St. Jack. When they met working at IPNC, a venerated wine event, their shared sense of campy, sarcastic humor made the event even more fun.
Fast forward a few years. Both Christopher and Greg had spent their free time helping with harvest at small wineries. Greg was working in wine distribution, but had devoted an entire harvest season to working with Vincent Fritzsche at Vincent Wine Co. – and he was hooked.
Before long, those shared dreams of making wine together became a reality when Hooray For You was born in 2017 with just a few cases of Cabernet Franc rosé (both are Loire Valley aficionados) and their small label has grown each year – up to 500 cases total last year! Someday, you’ll brag that you had a Hooray For You wine before anyone else knew about it!

2021 Red Blend
In this hyper-specific world, blends often get left behind. Contrary to what some misguided souls believe, blends can be of extraordinary quality. As much artistry as chemistry, blending is used to maximize the expression of a wine — enhancing aromas, color, texture, body and finish, making more well-rounded and complex wines. They are a great way to see the style of a winemaker shine through.
Made in Oregon, the grapes in this wine come from the warm climate of Rattlesnake Hills on the Washington side of the Columbia Valley AVA. (Grapes don’t care about legal fictions like state borders, and the Columbia Valley is one of four cross-border AVAs in Oregon.)
The blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, gives lush purple plum, ripe red cherry and roasted red pepper with a hint of cocoa. Balanced by juicy acidity and finished with notes of vanilla and mocha. An excellent choice for grilled lamb chops, Mediterranean food, and even a summer or fall fruit galette.
