The Agrabuamelu

Twelve 32 is a small lot focused wine brand headed by aerospace engineer turned winemaker Matt Lemons. It all started by helping a friend make wine in his garage. The address of his house and coincidentally ours was 1232. In 2020, after 8 years of home winemaking, Matt followed his passion into the wine industry and started Twelve 32 in Southern Oregon. Our wine is made using limited intervention, native fermentations, and no new oak to let the vineyards speak for themselves.

Twelve32 Confluence

The Aqrabuamelu, also known as the Scorpion Men, are formidable guardians from Mesopotamian mythology. These mythical beings, with the upper bodies of men and the lower bodies of scorpions, play crucial roles in ancient stories and beliefs.

In the Standard Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh, they stand guard outside the gates of the sun god Shamash at the mountains of Mashu. These give entrance to Kurnugi, the land of darkness. The scorpion-men open the doors for Shamash as he travels out each day, and close the doors after him when he returns through the netherworld at night. When Gilgamesh comes to Mount Mashu, he encounters scorpion-men guarding the gate. Their "terror is awesome" and their "glance is death" (Tablet IX 43).

This Aqrabuamelu is all gentleman on the front end who loves to clap you on the back with a precise citrus sting that your palate will love on the back end. A beast built to challenge your stance on Chardonnay....

Twelve32 Confluence

Born of my happiest winemaking accident, Confluence is the rogue blend resulting when a bin of Early Muscat snuck into the party with a group of Chardonnay bins on the way to the press.

The fruit comes from the amazing Layne Vineyard, one of the earliest vineyards in the Applegate Valley and Southern Oregon. Confluence was barrel fermented giving a little extra body but racked to tank before the oak could announce itself. With 17% Early Muscat, the aromatics bring it in this blend. Orange blossom and lemon peel fly from the glass then joined with pear and honeysuckle leading to a laser-focused crisp finish.

This happiest of accidents likely will never be repeated. Don’t miss out on it as only 78 cases of this beauty were made! A versatile pairer, everything from fresh seafood to spicy Thai food are fair game.

We believe sustainably grown fruit produces the best wines. In addition to the winery being LIVE certified, we source our fruit from vineyards practicing organic, LIVE certified, and salmon safe farming where possible. Our back labels starting with the 2021 vintage indicate the sustainability certifications applicable to each wine. While wine is no doubt an experience beyond simply what ends up your glass — heavy bottles, capsules, and their associated waste is just that, a waste you won’t find here.
