Established in 1984, the Columbia Valley AVA is a vast region with over 50,000 planted vineyard acres, of which 9000 are in Oregon — and the rest in Washington state. The Columbia Valley’s sub-AVAs include the Walla Walla Valley and the Rocks District of Milton-Freewater (as well as seven others exclusively in Washington.)
In Oregon, the region is home to Cabernet, Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Viognier.
