The Chimera

Ryan Rose Wine is named after Winemaker, Rob Folin’s daughters: Taylor Rose and Addison Ryan.

Rob began his winemaking career in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. With over 20 harvests under his belt Rob has created a style, both personally and professionally that sets him apart. An internship at Domaine Serene winery in 2001 led to seven vintages where he worked his way up the ranks working alongside some of Oregon’s most iconic winemakers and viticulturist.

While fine tuning his skills in the cellar, in 2001, Folin, along with his parents, Scott and Loraine, converted their baby kiwi and alfalfa farm in the Rogue Valley into 25 acres of grapes, focusing on Rhone varieties: Viognier, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Mourvèdre, Grenache and what would turn out to be his signature grape: Tempranillo. In 2005 he made his first wines under the family label: Folin Cellars.

After 10 successful vintages, the Folin Cellars winery operation and tasting room closed in 2015 and Ryan Rose Wines was born.

In addition to making wines for himself, Folin is also the Head Winemaker at Belle Fiore Winery in Ashland, Oregon. He continues to make his mark in Southern Oregon and beyond with numerous accolades and the respect of his peers and loyal customers.

Blend Four

Chi·me·ra

1. In Greek mythology a Chimera is a fire-breathing female monster 
    with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail.
2. A thing that is hoped or wished for but in fact is illusory or 
    impossible to achieve.

These Chimeras are twins with very different personalities. Blend Three is built of two opposing forces that results in definition #2 and Blend Four definition #1. We invite your palates to decide which is which. The moral of the story is that Petit Verdot is the lions head in both of these beasties.

Ryan Rose Blend Four

A blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Petit Verdot, the wine was aged for 20 months in neutral oak barrels. Rich and elegant, this beautifully structured wine is an example of how blends sometimes have the ability to multiply the sum of it's parts.

Ryan Rose Blend Three

A blend of 50% Tempranillo and 50% Petit Verdot, the wine was aged for 20 months in neutral oak barrels. Easily approachable and highly palatable, the fruit forward nature combined with the strong mid palate, make this wine the perfect candidate for weekend indulgence.

Rob's goal is to create small batch wines that folks like to drink, pairs well with a variety of cuisine and are just hard enough to get that you feel special every time you open a bottle.

Ryan Rose wines are highly-eclectic and limited in quantity. As a homage to his winemaking roots in the Willamette Valley, Rob produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in addition to his popular warm climate varieties, Cabernet Franc, Mourvedre, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Tempranillo.
