Kramer Vineyards 2011 Estate Pinot Noir
Second generation sparkles.
About an hour’s drive west of Portland, Keith and Trudy Kramer have been growing grapes on their land in Gaston, Oregon for over thirty years. Kramer Vineyards has become renowned for their estate Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay.
Today, the second generation is stepping up. Kim Kramer is rapidly becoming the Queen of Sparkling Wine. She’d probably balk at that title given her laid back and down to earth demeanor, but her passion for producing sparkling wines makes her one of its biggest champions in the Willamette Valley.
Since joining the family business in 2008, she’s added one sparkling after another. From the 2014 vintage, she’ll make 8 to 10 different sparkling wines.
Of course, the estate Pinot Noir – one of their “bubble-free” wines, as Kim puts it – remains beloved, and is getting better than ever in the hands of the second generation.

2011 Estate Pinot Noir
Despite their relatively new foray into sparkling wines, the Kramers have never lost their magic touch with Pinot Noir.
Their 2011 Pinot Noir Estate is no exception.
This deep ruby wine is very aromatic, with strawberries, cassis, and black cherries on the nose that continue onto the palate. Dry, with lively acidity and youthful tannins, there are layers of spice and earth in addition to the red fruit, and a very long finish.
At Cellar 503, we’re thrilled to share this great example of Pinot Noir from the North Willamette Valley.
