Locals Looking North

Wine made by a blue-blooded Willamette Valley Team who not only conquered the Willamette Valley through the wine made at Anne Amie but then decided that they wanted to make world class big reds celebrating Washington fruit.

Based in Sherwood, Pamplin Family Winery showcases a portfolio of wines largely focusing on some of the top vineyard sites just north of the state border in Washington. Typically exclusive to their wine club and winery visitors, Art was kind enough to share some of these bottles with us. Let us enjoy it and celebrate the extremely collaborative nature of the wine industry not just in Oregon but the whole of the Pacific Northwest.

Pamplin Family Winery Cabernet Sauvignon

In the Columbia Valley AVA, there are approximately 60,079 acres of vineyard acreage, with 59,234 acres in Washington state, and Cabernet Sauvignon is king.

Aged in a combination of new and used oak, this Cabernet selection offers all the intense blackberry, blueberry, and black raspberry jam flavor with a firm yet elegant handshake of tannins, defined and full bodied, vanilla and coconut oak notes, leather and rich earth that lead into a deeper, darker finish that lingers with coffee, lilac, and fig.
