North Willamette Valley Wineries
March 2019
When people visit Portland they always ask me, "Which wineries should we visit in the Willamette Valley?" Too often, they're asking about a narrow little stretch of Highway 99W around Dundee.
You know what? While we love Dundee—it’s the original home of Pinot Noir in Oregon—there is so much more to the Willamette Valley. One of our favorites is the North Willamette Valley. Just a short drive west of Portland—near Hillsboro and Forest Grove—and you’ll hit gorgeous rolling hills, small family-run wineries, and fabulous wines. The 19 wineries that make up the North Willamette Vintners Association are worth exploring and we’re excited about featuring wines from them this month.
Our first red is a classic Pinot Noir from club favorite Dion Vineyards. Our second red is a big, bold red blend called Soleggio from Italian-inspired winery Apolloni Vineyards.
Our first white is a sparkling Grüner Veltliner from our favorite queen of bubbles, Kim Kramer, at Kramer Vineyards. Our second white is a classic Pinot Gris from Fullerton Wines.
We hope you’ll love these wines as much as we do!
