Mexican Food Wine
June 2020
What do you drink with Mexican food? Most folks immediately turn to beer or tequila. But I’m here to tell you that wine goes amazingly well with Mexican food.
This month we are featuring wines that pair well with Mexican food. So, next time you’re in the mood, call up your favorite Mexican food restaurant, place an order to go and enjoy these wines with it.
Our first red is a spicy Tempranillo from Upper Five Vineyards in Southern Oregon. Not your typical dark and broody Tempranillo, this is a lighter style wine. Our second red is a club favorite — J. Scott Cellar’s Avante is a big, bold blend of Malbec, Tinto Cao, Touriga Nacional, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Tempranillo.
Our first white is an Albariño, a classic Spanish varietal, from Willamette Valley’s Ransom Wine Co. & Distillery. Our second white is an aromatic and complex dry Riesling from Mad Violets Wine Co.
Cheers!
